Posts have been fewer this week due partly to an overbooked schedule, and partly to an ongoing illness. The combination of the two have me at home on a monday morning, with no voice, no hearing in one ear (lovely mix of congestion and air travel) and the runniest of noses.
harumf.
We spent the weekend in Oxford, on the mad hunt for a house. Now familiarised with the bus system and all the various boroughs of Ox, we feel ready for our big move.
But back to the house: It's still undergoing renos, which means we'll be the first lucky tennants to put our thumbprint on it. It's massive by Brit standards, with a luxuriously large kitchen (finally a full sized fridge-freezer), spacious rooms (with a real closet in the master bed), and a shower with suitable water pressure!
It's in a wee quaint village within Oxford, called Littlemore, a mere 2.5 miles from the city centre (bikes for sale anyone?) and steps from a bus stop.
Other goodies: big bright windows. a nice big office/guest room. new carpets and real wood floors. a massive back patio, primed for a BBQ and pots and pots of plants. Good thing I've got a housemate with a greenthumb coming from Swift Current :)
the only bad thing: Brits have this funny thing about "feature fireplaces". This is, in fact, merely a wall where there was once a fireplace, plastered and painted up - not even a nook in the wall remaining - with a mantle attached in front. I've seen them countless times in our house hunts and they remain a mystery to me. Hopefully nothing an electric screwdriver can't fix!

Congrats on finding a place! When do you guys move in?
When I venture over to your side of the pond to visit Kelly after September, we will have to take a little trip to Littlemore to see you, your hubby, and your new pad. Can’t wait!
hey lady! we can't wait to visit next spring... :)
happy tuesday,
